2025 Marching Season
The 2025 season brought amazing experiences for our small-but-mighty band. This year’s “Dead Men Tell No Tales” routine was one of the most fun and engaging shows the band has ever produced and brought pirate fun to this year's shows, competitions and halftime performances. The kids did a fantastic job through it all, navigating fun, new experiences and learning opportunities. We are rightly proud of them!

The show: Dead Men Tell No Tales delivered a pirate story filled with humor and action -- culminating in a “mutiny” against Drum Major Ester Griffin that always left audiences gasping and laughing.

Parades: Two big parades bookended our season -- Western Welcome Week in August and Parade of Lights in December. Both events let the kids show off their marching skills for appreciative crowds. Now if we could just average out the weather between the two! :)

Football Games: The MVHS football team had a phenomenal year, the band was there for it all. From halftime performances to keeping the crowd pumped, Friday night lights are favorite and memorable band activity.

K-State Trip: The trip to Manhattan, KS, for the Central States Marching Festival was a highlight of the year. In addition to coaching from members of the K-State Band, our kids got to see a different kind of show. Our more theatrical performance was a hit and earned straight 1s from the judges. But even more important are the bonds and memories the kids formed during this trip.

Chili Cookoff: The Chili Cookoff was a big fundraiser as a part of Homecoming Week activities. Parents brought their favorite chili recipes and students got to sample them.

BOPA Shows Up! BOPA members were a huge part of the successful season: Manning the concession booth at Highlands Ranch Stadium, raising funds in a car wash, building props, hauling equipment, keeping kids cool after summer band camp, and celebrating our seniors at the end of the season.

Competitions: We call the fall months “Band-tember” and “Band-tober” because of all the competitions, games and marching opportunities. The kids performed "Dead Men" at the Friendship Cup Festival, Douglas County Showcase, Legend Marching Festival, and CBA Metro Regional Qualifier – and you could see them improving each time.
